Leeds Eye Brazilian Sensation: Club Captain Could Be Shown the Door!

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are staying sharp in the summer transfer window as they get ready for life back in the Premier League.

With Lukas Nmecha already signed and Jaka Bijol on the way, the club are now looking at a surprise move for a Brazilian centre-back that could change the backline completely.

Leeds Ask About Natan Bernardo de Souza Deal

Reports from Spain say that Leeds have asked Real Betis about Natan, a 23-year-old Brazilian defender.

Natan only joined Betis permanently this year after impressing on loan, and now he’s also made his first-ever Brazil national team appearance.

The Whites are clearly serious about strengthening their defence. After finalising a deal for Udinese’s Jaka Bijol, Leeds could now bring in two new centre-backs. And that could cause a shake-up at the heart of defence.

What This Means for Struijk

If Natan joins Bijol at Elland Road, it could put pressure on current defenders like Pascal Struijk, who is also the club captain.

Struijk was one of Leeds’ most used players in the Championship, but with top-level talents like Natan and Bijol coming in, his spot in the starting XI could be in danger.

The club may also decide to sell Struijk for financial reasons. Some reports say he’s one of the players Leeds could move on to help with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

It wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s sold for full profit to balance the books.

Leeds Want to Add Depth and Quality

Daniel Farke is looking to build a team that not only survives in the Premier League but competes. That means depth in every position, and having quality players to rotate when needed.

With Nmecha already in, and the likes of Habib Diarra and Valentin Atangana also being targeted in midfield, the focus now shifts to defenders.

The Natan deal, if it goes through, would bring fresh energy and international experience to the backline.

What’s Next?

Leeds have already made contact about the Natan deal. Now it’s up to Betis and Leeds to agree on the price. No deal is done yet, but it’s one to watch closely in the coming days.

Leeds United are serious about upgrades. If they land Natan after Bijol, it might spell the end for Struijk’s time at the club.

Big changes could be coming in defence and fans should expect nothing less from a team chasing Premier League survival.
