Leeds United Finally Get Offer They Wanted as Attacker Edges Closer to Exit

Leeds United are continuing talks over a possible return to Spain for Largie Ramazani, with Valencia now offering a deal that could finally meet the Whites’ demands.

The Belgian winger spent last season on loan at the Mestalla and made enough of an impression to convince Valencia that they want him back. However, Leeds have been clear that they do not want another simple loan, particularly with Ramazani’s contract situation making a permanent exit increasingly important.

Valencia have now changed their proposal, with a loan deal that contains an obligation to buy. The structure means Leeds would not receive money immediately, but the Spanish club would be committed to making the transfer permanent if the agreed conditions are met.

That development could bring the 25-year-old closer to the Elland Road exit door, especially because he does not appear to be part of Daniel Farke’s plans for the new Premier League season.

Valencia change their approach for Ramazani

Ramazani joined Leeds from Almeria in August 2024 for a fee of around £10m. The move came after he had impressed in Spain, and there were hopes that his pace and attacking ability could give Leeds another important option.

His first season in Yorkshire was mixed, though. He played an important part in the club’s promotion campaign but started only seven league matches, meaning he never became one of Farke’s main attacking players.

Following Leeds’ return to the Premier League, the club allowed Ramazani to leave on loan to Valencia.

The move worked reasonably well for the winger, who featured 31 times across all competitions and scored six goals. Those performances were enough for Valencia to remain interested in bringing him back on a permanent basis.

Former Leeds coach Carlos Corberan is also keen on a reunion, which has helped keep the transfer alive.

According to Spanish journalist Nacho Sanchis, Valencia’s latest proposal is an initial loan with an obligation to buy next summer. The reported permanent fee is around £3.4m, with the payment linked to appearances.

The financial structure is important because Valencia reportedly do not have the funds available to pay a sizeable fee immediately. A loan allows them to bring Ramazani back while delaying the permanent payment.

For Leeds, however, the key point is that there is now a commitment towards a permanent transfer rather than another temporary arrangement.

Leeds could finally move on from Ramazani

From Leeds’ perspective, this is not the ideal financial outcome.

The club paid around £10m for Ramazani only two years ago, while the proposed £3.4m deal would represent a significant loss. There is also no immediate money coming into the club under the current structure.

But football transfers are not always about recovering every pound originally spent.

Ramazani has not been involved in either of Leeds’ first two matchday squads this season, which tells its own story. Farke appears to have moved on from the Belgian, and keeping a player who is not expected to feature regularly would not make much sense.

Leeds also need to manage their squad carefully after returning to the Premier League. If Ramazani is not part of the manager’s plans, finding a permanent solution should be more important than waiting for a better offer that may never arrive.

The timing makes this even more relevant.

If Ramazani remains at Leeds until next summer, his contract situation could make him even harder to sell. His value could fall further, particularly if he spends another season without regular first-team football.

Valencia, meanwhile, are currently the club showing the clearest willingness to take him.

That puts Leeds in a fairly straightforward position. They can accept a deal that recovers some money and removes an unwanted player from the squad, or they can reject the proposal and risk having an even bigger problem later.

There is also the personal side of the move. Ramazani already knows Valencia, the league and the environment, while the club clearly know what he can offer. His six goals in 31 appearances last season suggest there is still a useful player there, even if he has not been able to establish himself at Leeds.

The talks are therefore worth watching closely.

Valencia have taken an important step by moving away from a simple loan and towards an agreement that would eventually make Ramazani’s departure permanent. Leeds have already made it clear that another temporary deal is not what they want.

If the final details, particularly the sell-on element and appearance conditions, can be agreed, the winger could soon be heading back to Spain.

For Leeds, it would not be the big-money sale they once hoped for. But with Ramazani seemingly outside Farke’s plans, getting him off the wage bill and securing a permanent exit could prove more valuable than holding out for a fee that may never come.
