James Trafford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been named in England’s squad for November’s Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.

Leeds United confirmed the pair’s inclusion on Friday, 6 November. Both retain their places after being selected for the September and October international windows.

The announcement gives Leeds two representatives in Thomas Tuchel’s senior squad as England approach their final two Nations League group matches of the year.

What England need from the final games

England host Croatia at Wembley on Thursday, 12 November, before travelling to Madrid to face Spain on Sunday, 15 November.

According to Leeds United’s announcement, England sit second in Group C and need to avoid defeat against Croatia to secure a place in March’s quarter-finals.

Winning the group is a separate task. The club says England would need to win both remaining matches and finish with a better goal difference than Spain.

Those are the team’s qualification conditions, not a guarantee that either Leeds player will start. Selection for the squad does not settle Tuchel’s team for either fixture.

Leeds face Tottenham before the break

Before joining up with England, the pair have a Premier League fixture on the domestic schedule. Leeds host Tottenham at Elland Road on Saturday, 7 November, with kick-off at 12:30 GMT, as listed in England Football’s weekend preview.

That preview says Trafford and Calvert-Lewin could both be involved. It does not confirm a starting place or provide a new medical update on the striker.

Calvert-Lewin’s England selection should therefore not be treated as confirmation that he is fit to start against Spurs. Leeds’ Friday match preview describes the striker as a slight doubt but expected to be fit. That is separate from the international squad announcement, and the final team has not been confirmed.

Leeds’ own team news update also has Joe Rodon back in full training, with doubts over Noah Okafor and Anton Stach.

The immediate news is that both players remain part of Tuchel’s plans. Their next opportunities come either side of the international break: first with Leeds at Elland Road, then with England preparing for Croatia and Spain.
