Farke Not Giving Up On Leeds United Target As €35m Price Keeps Rising

Leeds United may have failed to sign Ermedin Demirović during the summer transfer window, but it looks like Daniel Farke has not completely moved away from the idea of bringing the striker to Elland Road.

The Whites were strongly linked with the VfB Stuttgart forward during the summer, but no agreement was reached. However, fresh reports now suggest that Leeds are still following the Bosnia and Herzegovina international and could look at the possibility of making another move in the future.

The situation has become more difficult, though.

Demirović has started the new season in very good form, while Stuttgart have increased their asking price. The German club are now reportedly looking for at least €35m for the 28-year-old striker.

That is a significant increase from the figure previously mentioned during the summer, when Stuttgart were believed to be open to a deal for around €30m.

At the same time, Leeds are not the only club watching the situation. Juventus, AC Milan and Galatasaray have also been linked with the Stuttgart striker, meaning Farke’s side could face strong competition if they decide to push ahead with a transfer.

Leeds United have not given up on Demirović

Demirović joined Stuttgart from SC Freiburg in 2024 and has already made a strong impact at the German club.

According to the latest report, he has scored 36 goals and provided 11 assists in 92 appearances for Stuttgart. His numbers were also impressive last season, when he finished with 15 goals and five assists.

Leeds were interested in signing him during the summer, but the move never developed into a completed transfer.

Interestingly, the latest reports indicate that the interest from Elland Road has not disappeared.

Farke’s side are still being described as pursuing the player, despite failing to make the move happen in the previous window. It is not clear why Leeds did not make a stronger push for the striker during the summer, but the situation could now become more expensive.

Demirović has already given Stuttgart another reason to demand a big fee.

The striker has scored four goals in five appearances at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign across competitions. His biggest moment so far came in the Champions League, when he scored a hat-trick during Stuttgart’s 3-1 victory over Viking.

That performance has naturally increased attention around the player.

Leeds are now one of several clubs keeping an eye on him, with Juventus also sending scouts to watch the striker this season. At the time of the latest report, Juventus had not yet made contact with either Demirović’s representatives or Stuttgart.

The biggest problem for Leeds could now be the price.

Demirović is reportedly valued at around €22m by Transfermarkt, but that is not the figure Stuttgart are working with. The Bundesliga club are said to want at least €35m and are not currently interested in offering a discount.

That means Leeds could have to spend considerably more than they might have expected when they first looked at the player.

The striker’s contract with Stuttgart also runs until 2028, giving the German club a strong position in any potential negotiations.

There is also the issue of competition.

Juventus, AC Milan and Galatasaray have all been linked with Demirović. If more clubs join the race, Stuttgart could potentially demand even more money.

This is why a future Leeds move could be complicated.

The Whites have already spent heavily during the 2026 summer window, bringing in players including James Trafford, Tarik Muharemović, Nico Elvedi, Michael Zetterer, Harry Wilson, Melvin Bard and Jean-Mattéo Bahoya.

However, the continued interest in Demirović shows that Leeds may still be looking at ways to improve their squad in future transfer windows.

The important point for Leeds fans is that Demirović remains on Farke’s radar, but this is far from being a simple transfer.

Stuttgart’s €35m demand, the player’s contract situation and interest from several European clubs all make negotiations difficult.

For now, Leeds appear to be continuing to monitor the situation rather than having a deal close. If Demirović continues scoring regularly for Stuttgart, his price could rise even further before Leeds make their next move.

The striker has certainly done enough to keep himself on Farke’s transfer list.
