How the academy coaching staff work together
In a March 2026 club interview, Jonny Howson described working alongside Scott Gardner and Michal Pujdak with the Under-21s. Some sessions put him in the middle of the action as a player; other work involves analysing the details with the backroom staff. His experience as a former first-team captain helps connect those two parts of the role.
The academy coaching staff focus on preparing players for senior football, rather than results alone. Howson said the aim is to help young players cope in a first-team environment, at Leeds or another club. The same report names Gardner and Rob Etherington as the Under-21s and Under-18s bosses.
A note on accuracy
The first-team coaching staff table draws on a 2025/26 secondary listing, not a complete current club directory. Club reports confirm Eddie Riemer’s assistant role and the academy group. Treat the remaining roles as the published listing for that season, rather than confirmation that every role is unchanged.
