Leeds Told to Pay £25m for “Midfield Wizard” Will 49ers Break the Bank?

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United could make a summer move for Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin, but it won’t come cheap.

The Scottish giants want £25 million for their star man, and that’s a big call for Leeds as they plan for life back in the Premier League.

Raskin is just 24 years old and already a key player for Rangers. Since joining them in 2023, he’s played nearly 100 matches and helped control the midfield in big games.

Now, with Leeds promoted, Daniel Farke is looking at players who can step up to Premier League level and Raskin is one of them.

Leeds face tough choice as Raskin speaks out

Raskin recently said in an interview that he’s happy at Rangers. He said he’s enjoyed his time there, and he still has two years left on his contract.

“I’m really happy here,” he told BBC Sport. “But the summer could bring change, who knows what might happen?”

That means while he’s not pushing for a move, he’s open to one if the right offer comes in.

But for Leeds, the big question is, are they ready to spend £25 million?

Rangers are calling it a “record sale” if they do let him go. That shows how much they value the Belgian, and why they won’t let him leave on the cheap.

Raskin’s history and why Leeds want him

Nicolas Raskin was born in Liege, Belgium. He trained in the youth teams at Standard Liege, Anderlecht, and Gent, before returning to Liege and making nearly 100 appearances there too.

Then Rangers signed him, and he became a big part of their midfield.

He’s also played for Belgium a few times and is seen as a future regular in the national team.

For Leeds, Raskin could be the kind of strong, smart midfielder they need to survive and grow in the Premier League.

Aston Villa are also keeping an eye on Raskin, so Leeds will have competition if they want to sign him. But Farke and the board will now have to decide, spend big, or move on?
