BREAKING: Leeds United Given Green Light for “£12m Wonderkid” in Shock Summer Attack Deal

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are getting busy in the summer transfer window as they look to bring in new players for the next season.

Manager Daniel Farke has already made one big move by signing striker Lukas Nmecha. Now, another exciting player could be coming to Elland Road, Mario Stroeykens.

New Attacking Midfielder on the Radar

Leeds are looking to sign a new attacking midfielder, also known as a number 10. This is important because Brenden Aaronson might leave the club soon.

The American didn’t have the best season last year, and he is now thinking about moving to a club in Germany.

Because of this, Leeds want to bring in fresh talent in that role. One of the top names on their list is Mario Stroeykens, a 20-year-old from Belgium.

He plays for Anderlecht and had a solid 2024/25 season. Stroeykens scored 4 goals and gave 5 assists in the league, playing in the number 10 position.

Club Given Green Light to Sign Stroeykens

Good news for Leeds fans is that the club has now been given the green light to try and sign Stroeykens. Reports from Belgium say that Anderlecht need to sell players this summer to fix their financial problems.

Stroeykens is one of the players they are willing to sell, and they want around £12 million for him.

Leeds United have already held talks to understand the deal better. While there is interest from French side Marseille too, there haven’t been any official offers yet. But Leeds are still very much in the race.

What This Means for Aaronson

This transfer could affect Brenden Aaronson’s future. If Leeds only sign one number 10, he may decide to stay and fight for his place in the team.

But if the club brings in two players in that position, Aaronson might decide to leave.

Daniel Farke and the club’s owners, the 49ers, believe a better option is needed in that attacking role. That’s why the Stroeykens deal could be very important for the club moving forward.

Leeds United have already spent money this summer, including £19 million on defender Jaka Bijol. But with a big budget to work with, there is still room for more signings.

Getting Mario Stroeykens would be a smart move. He’s young, talented, and ready to grow under Farke. Leeds fans will now be watching closely to see if the club makes an official move soon.
