Leeds United have begun the 2024/25 season well, currently second in the Championship with 22 points from their first 11 matches.
Although they failed to get promoted through a play off against Southampton in the 2023/24 season, they are back with renewed drive to reach the Premier League.
Indeed, Farke’s side have lost just once this term, a home reverse to Burnley last time out but four draws has been the difference with fellow top six teams.
Wilfried Gnonto’s Impact on the Team
Wilfried Gnonto has been a key player for Leeds this season.
The young Italian now has 2 goals and 4 assists from 11 games, proving his importance to Farke despite the speculation that surrounded him over the summer.
And he underlined that with his performance at Coventry City, where he scored and assisted in a 3-0 victory.
However, Farke might consider resting him to keep him fresh as the season goes on.
Daniel James: The Perfect Alternative
With Gnonto playing a lot, Daniel James could be the perfect backup in subsequent matches.
James has made the most of his appearances, registering 2 important chances created during a win over Watford after recovering from a hamstring injury that had seen him miss 6 games.
James, a quick and bright winger, would be an asset to Leeds’ quest for automatic promotion this season.
With Leeds hoping to return to the Premier League, having strong options like Gnonto and James offers Farke flexibility.
This season could be Leeds’ chance to make it back to the top tier, and their journey is shaping up to be one to watch.
