Leeds United are closing in on another important piece of transfer business, with Lucas Perri expected to complete his move to Torino after travelling to Italy for a medical.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has been permitted to leave Elland Road after falling down the pecking order following the arrival of James Trafford from Manchester City.
Perri is now set to undergo his medical with the Serie A club, with the transfer expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days.
The deal will initially see Torino pay around €1m (£855,000) to take the 28-year-old on loan. The Italian club will then have an option to sign him permanently for a further €14m (£12m).
It brings an end to an interesting spell for Perri at Leeds, who signed him from Lyon for £15.6m only last summer.
The goalkeeper started the campaign as Leeds’ first choice, but his position changed dramatically during the season.

Lucas Perri’s Leeds career takes another turn
Perri arrived at Elland Road with plenty of expectations after his move from Lyon.
The Brazilian was brought in to compete for the starting position and eventually established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper at the beginning of last season.
However, things changed in January when Karl Darlow took his place in the team. Perri still made 20 appearances in all competitions, but he was unable to win his starting position back consistently.
The arrival of Trafford made his situation even more difficult. Leeds spent a club-record fee to bring the England international goalkeeper from Manchester City, with Trafford now expected to be Daniel Farke’s first-choice goalkeeper.
That left Perri facing a simple choice. Stay at Elland Road and fight for a place, or leave to find regular football elsewhere. Torino have now offered him that opportunity.
The Serie A club wants Perri to become an important part of their team, making the move attractive for a goalkeeper who needs regular matches.

Marseille tried to hijack the move
The Torino transfer was not completely straightforward. Marseille attempted to enter the race for Perri and tried to convince Leeds and the player to choose a different destination.
The French club was looking for a replacement in goal and saw the Leeds goalkeeper as a possible option.
However, their late attempt to interfere with the Torino deal failed. Perri has decided to continue with the move to Italy, and his medical is now the next major step before the transfer can be completed.
For Leeds, this removes another player from a crowded goalkeeping department and gives Farke greater clarity ahead of the Premier League season.
The reported structure of the deal also gives Leeds the chance to receive a significant fee if Torino decide to make the move permanent.

Farke admits Leeds still need more signings
Perri’s departure coincides with Leeds continuing to reshape the squad. Farke has already made it clear that he is not finished with the transfer window.
The Leeds manager was particularly pleased to finally get Trafford through the door after the club had pursued the goalkeeper for a long time.
He also welcomed the arrival of Harry Wilson on a free transfer, pointing towards the experience and attacking numbers the former Fulham player can provide. However, Farke admitted that there are still obvious positions where Leeds need more cover.
That is an important comment because it suggests more transfers are coming before the window closes. Leeds have already strengthened several areas, but the manager knows that Premier League football demands depth.
A long season can quickly expose weaknesses if a team does not have enough specialist options. Farke also explained why he does not want to reveal too much about the positions Leeds are targeting.
Speaking publicly about specific positions could alert other clubs and potentially increase asking prices. That means supporters may have to wait for the next developments to emerge through the transfer market.

Joel Piroe could also leave Elland Road
Perri may not be the only player preparing to leave Leeds. Joel Piroe has also been permitted to travel for a medical ahead of a proposed move to West Ham.
That could leave Farke with fewer options in attack at a time when the club is already looking to strengthen the forward line. The situation highlights how active Leeds remain in both directions.
Players are leaving because they no longer have a clear role, while the club is also looking for new additions who can better fit Farke’s plans.
Perri’s departure is therefore not just about one goalkeeper. It is another sign that Leeds are continuing to build a squad around Trafford as the new No.1.
The Brazilian’s time at Elland Road did not go as planned, but Torino could now give him the chance to rebuild his career. For Leeds, the move should provide a useful financial return if the Italian club eventually activates the purchase option.
With Perri travelling for his medical and Farke openly admitting that more work is needed, Leeds supporters should expect further transfer movement before the window shuts.
The goalkeeper situation now looks much clearer, Trafford is the man Farke wants as his No.1, while Perri is heading towards the Elland Road exit.
