Leeds United have been getting calls from clubs who want to buy Ilia Gruev but the midfielder wants to stay at Elland Road if Leeds get promoted.
That’s great news for boss Daniel Farke, who called Gruev “outstanding” not long ago.
The 24-year-old is seen as a key player, and he’s shown he wants to prove himself in the Premier League.
Clubs Interested in Gruev
Reports say a few clubs have asked about Gruev ahead of the summer window.
He’s on £15,000-a-week right now, and despite missing part of the season with a big knee injury, he’s still trusted by Farke especially in tough away games.
Gruev joined the starting team around January and stayed solid until his injury.
He hurt himself in a game against Norwich but came back quicker than expected.
After three and a half months out, he returned strong and helped Leeds get big clean sheets against Burnley, Watford, and Coventry all away from home.
Farke Praises the Midfielder

Farke had good things to say about the Bulgarian international last month:
“Ilia Gruev, he was our most consistent player until the injury. He controlled games both in defence and attack. He sacrificed his body for the team and worked really hard to get back.”
Even though he didn’t play his best in a couple of games after returning like against Sheffield and Sunderland, Leeds still won both matches with him in the starting eleven.
Leeds Pushing for Promotion
Right now, Leeds are five points clear of Sheffield United with only a few games left.
A strong finish would mean Premier League football next season and that could change the future for a lot of players.
Some stars might leave, like Illan Meslier or Joel Piroe, but Gruev isn’t one of them.
He’s said to believe in the Leeds project and wants to prove himself in the top flight.
Future Still Open
Leeds have also been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Julian Weigl, another midfielder, so there may still be changes in the middle of the park.
But for now, it looks like Gruev is focused on helping Leeds get back to the big time.
And that’s something the fans will be happy to hear.
