Leeds United are thinking about making a big move this summer. The club might bring back old fan favourite Kalvin Phillips. He used to play at Elland Road before moving to Manchester City.
Kalvin left Leeds in 2022 for £42 million. But things didn’t work out at City. He didn’t get many chances to play under Pep Guardiola. Now, he’s on loan at Ipswich Town, and Leeds are watching him closely.
Phillips Wants Leeds Return
Reports say Kalvin would “love” to come back to Leeds. The 29-year-old has been on the club’s shortlist for months. He has lots of experience in the Premier League and knows what Leeds is all about.
That makes him a perfect fit as the team gets ready for life back in the top flight.
Kalvin has played 92 games in the Premier League and also made 31 appearances for England. He is known for working hard and giving everything on the pitch.
City Ready to Sell
Manchester City are ready to let Kalvin go. His contract runs until 2028, but he’s not in City’s future plans. He earns around £150,000 per week, so a move could help both clubs.
Leeds would love to bring him in to help control the midfield next season.
He played 22 games for Ipswich this year and scored once in the FA Cup. He may not have scored in the league, but his work rate and experience are what Leeds need.
Leeds Want Stronger Midfield
Leeds won the Championship and are now going to the Premier League. Manager Daniel Farke wants to build a strong team.
Bringing in players like Kalvin Phillips could help the team stay up.
Another name linked is Julian Weigl from Germany. He knows Farke well and may also join this summer.
But the return of Kalvin Phillips would be a special one. Fans love him, and he loves the club. If it works out, it could be one of the biggest signings of the summer.
