Leeds United Star Attracts First Transfer Approach as Club Reveal Asking Price

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri could be on his way out of Elland Road this summer, with Torino now making the first move for the Brazilian.

The goalkeeper’s future has been unclear for some time, especially with Leeds pushing hard to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.

Now, it looks like the situation is starting to move.

According to reports from Brazil, Torino have opened talks with Leeds over a possible deal for Perri. The discussions are still at an early stage, but there is already one important detail that has come out of the talks.

Leeds have reportedly told the Italian club that they want €15m, which is around £13m, before they will consider selling their goalkeeper.

That gives Torino a clear idea of what it will take to bring Perri to Serie A.

It also shows that Leeds are not simply looking to get rid of the player. They want a decent return on the money they spent to bring him to Yorkshire.

Torino make first move for Leeds goalkeeper

Torino have been keeping a close eye on the situation at Elland Road.

The Italian club were already aware that Leeds were trying to sign Trafford. They reportedly believed that if the England goalkeeper arrived, Perri could become available.

That is now starting to happen. UOL in Brazil claim Torino have made contact with Leeds and talks have started over a possible transfer.

There is still a long way to go before a deal is completed. However, the fact that Torino have now opened discussions is important.

For weeks, the Italian side were mostly watching events from the outside.

Now they have decided to make their move. The reported £13m asking price could be the next big test.

Torino will have to decide whether they are willing to pay that amount for a goalkeeper who has only spent one season in English football.

Leeds want a strong fee for Perri

Leeds paid around £20m to sign Perri from Lyon last summer. At the time, the goalkeeper was expected to become the club’s first-choice player between the sticks.

The move came after Leeds returned to the Premier League and needed a goalkeeper capable of handling the demands of top-flight football.

However, things did not go exactly as planned. Perri started the season with an important role but eventually lost his place in the team.

By the end of the campaign, he was no longer the regular number one. That has led to plenty of questions about his future.

Still, Leeds appear to believe Perri has enough value to demand a significant transfer fee.

The reported £13m asking price is not far away from the money the club paid for him. That could allow Leeds to avoid taking a major financial hit on the player.

It also gives the club more money to spend elsewhere as Daniel Farke continues to build his squad.

James Trafford could decide Perri’s future

The biggest piece of the puzzle is still James Trafford. Leeds have been working hard to bring the Manchester City goalkeeper to Elland Road.

If that transfer is completed, Farke would suddenly have a new number one. That would change everything for Perri.

At the moment, Leeds have already lost Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow this summer. That has left the club needing to be careful with their goalkeeper situation.

Selling Perri before signing a replacement would leave Farke short of options. But bringing in Trafford first would allow Leeds to decide without the same pressure.

That is why Torino have been watching the situation so closely. They know that Perri could become available if Trafford arrives.

The Brazilian goalkeeper could then see his future take him to Italy, where Torino appear ready to give him another chance to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper.

A fresh start could suit Lucas Perri

For Perri, a move away from Leeds could also make sense.

The goalkeeper has not enjoyed the first-choice role he would have wanted after joining the club.

A move to Torino could give him a fresh start and the chance to play regularly again. Serie A is also a league that can offer goalkeepers a strong platform to develop.

However, the £13m price tag could make negotiations difficult.

Torino have now made the first move, but Leeds will not simply accept any offer. The club have made their position clear. They want €15m.

Whether Torino are prepared to meet that valuation remains to be seen.

Leeds’ goalkeeper situation is one to watch

The next few weeks could be very important for Leeds.

The club have already made several big moves in the transfer market, and the goalkeeper position now looks close to another major change. If Trafford arrives, Perri could be allowed to leave.

If Trafford does not sign, Leeds may decide they need to keep hold of the Brazilian for another season.

For now, Torino have opened talks and Leeds have revealed their price. That means the ball is now in Torino’s court.

A £13m deal would give Leeds a useful transfer boost and could help the club continue reshaping Farke’s squad.

But everything could depend on one question: Will James Trafford become the new number one at Elland Road?

If the answer is yes, Lucas Perri’s Leeds career could be heading towards its final chapter.
