Lukas Nmecha contract talks remain unresolved because the Leeds United forward wants more regular playing time, according to a report by TEAMtalk.
Fraser Fletcher’s report says the striker’s role is central to discussions over a new deal, with his representatives also considering possible alternatives. There is no announced agreement to leave Leeds, and the report describes the situation as fluid rather than settled.

Lukas Nmecha contract report centres on playing time
TEAMtalk’s report, published on Thursday, attributes its account to unnamed sources. It says Leeds want to keep the forward, but the Lukas Nmecha contract discussions hinge on assurances over minutes.
That remains reported information, not a public statement from the player or the club. BBC Sport’s Friday gossip round-up also carries the story, but explicitly credits TEAMtalk, so it does not provide a separate confirmation of the negotiations.
There is firmer ground on the original Lukas Nmecha contract. Leeds announced on 15 June 2025 that Nmecha had agreed an initial two-year contract, with his move from Wolfsburg taking effect on 1 July that year. That announcement provides the background to the current discussion without establishing what either side will decide next.

What Leeds have confirmed about Nmecha
In their official signing announcement, Leeds described a forward who could operate through the middle or on the wing, adding versatility and a physical presence to Daniel Farke’s attacking options.
Those qualities explain the value of having different options in the squad, but they do not resolve the Lukas Nmecha contract question. A player’s wish for more involvement and a manager’s selection decisions can remain separate issues while discussions continue.
TEAMtalk also reports interest from the Championship and Bundesliga, although its account does not announce a completed move or identify an agreed destination. Until Leeds or Nmecha provides an update, the Lukas Nmecha contract story remains an attributed report, not a confirmed departure.
