Leeds United Injury News: Rodon, Wilson and Tanaka

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United injury news is mixed ahead of the trip to Arsenal on Saturday 10 October. Ao Tanaka came through his latest Japan game without a problem. Harry Wilson is racing to be fit. Joe Rodon is still expected to be out for several more weeks.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Leeds United coverage on 1 October quotes Daniel Farke on both injuries.

Leeds United injury news: Joe Rodon

Rodon hurt his hamstring in the 1-1 home draw with Brentford in August. Farke said afterwards: “Bad news for him, a serious hamstring injury. He will be out for eight to 10 weeks. Definitely not playing before the next international break.”

The Yorkshire Evening Post worked out that eight weeks from his injury date of 30 August points to Sunderland away on 25 October. Ten weeks would be 8 November, the day after Leeds host Tottenham. That is the newspaper’s calculation, not a club timeline.

Joe Rodon has missed four games so far, against Brighton, Chelsea, Newcastle and Crystal Palace, per the Yorkshire Evening Post. However, Leeds have defended well without him, with James Justin moving across to right-sided centre-back.

Harry Wilson and the Arsenal deadline

This Leeds United injury news starts with Wilson, who missed the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace with a quad problem. Farke said at the time: “I hope to have Harry Wilson back on the other side of the international break.” He then pulled out of Wales duty.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s 3 October injury list still has Wilson as a doubt for Arsenal. Its 1 October piece says he must be fully involved in training to be considered, because Farke does not pick players who have not trained with the group. The winger has not scored or assisted in six appearances since joining from Fulham (Yorkshire Evening Post).

Good news on Ao Tanaka

There is better Leeds United injury news on Tanaka, who played 79 minutes in Japan’s 0-0 friendly draw with Ecuador. Japan beat Ecuador 5-4 on penalties. Daizen Maeda replaced him, and the newspaper says it was not an injury change.

Japan now play New Zealand in the Kirin Cup final on Monday. Tanaka started the last three Premier League games for Leeds before the break, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
