Leeds United have made a fast start to the summer transfer window, with the club already working on several important deals before pre-season begins.
Daniel Farke wants his squad ready as early as possible after a strong first season back in the Premier League, and the recruitment team are busy looking at different areas of the squad.
The Whites have already made progress in talks for Harry Wilson, while their chase for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles is still moving forward. But Leeds are not only looking at midfield and attack.
They are also keeping a close eye on the goalkeeping position, where changes could still happen before the new campaign begins.
One player who continues to be linked with Elland Road is Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford. The talented England shot-stopper remains a player Leeds admire, although getting a deal over the line may not be as simple as some supporters hope.

Leeds Still Keen on Trafford
Leeds have been linked with Trafford for some time, and it is easy to understand why. At just 23 years old, he is already highly rated and has shown he has the quality to become a top Premier League goalkeeper.
The Whites are believed to see him as someone who could improve the squad straight away while also becoming the club’s long-term number one.
His age, ability and experience make him an attractive target for a side that wants to keep growing under Daniel Farke.
However, despite the interest, Leeds know this transfer will not be easy. Trafford remains an important player with a growing reputation, and several clubs are expected to keep an eye on his situation this summer.
Leeds are showing plenty of ambition with the players they are targeting, but ambitious transfers often take longer to complete.
Goalkeeper Situation Still Unclear
Leeds could still make changes between the posts before the transfer window closes.
Karl Darlow’s future has not yet been fully settled, despite the club wanting him to stay. At the same time, Lucas Perri has not done enough to fully convince everyone that he should be the club’s first-choice goalkeeper going into next season.
That leaves Leeds with an important decision to make.
Signing a new goalkeeper would give Daniel Farke more competition and strengthen one of the most important positions on the pitch. Trafford fits the profile Leeds are looking for, but patience may be needed if they want to land their target.

World Cup Could Delay Any Agreement
Another reason why this transfer could take time is Trafford’s involvement at the World Cup.
With the goalkeeper currently focused on international duty, any negotiations could become more complicated. Clubs have completed transfers while players are away at tournaments before, but it often takes extra planning.
Medical checks, paperwork and personal meetings all become harder when a player is based overseas during a major competition. Leeds may have to wait until Trafford finishes his international commitments before making real progress.
That does not mean the move cannot happen, but supporters should not expect a quick breakthrough.

New Manchester City Boss Could Play Big Part
Another major factor is what happens at Manchester City.
Enzo Maresca is widely expected to become City’s new manager, and his arrival could have a direct impact on Trafford’s future.
Every new manager likes to assess the squad before making final decisions. Maresca may want to take a closer look at Trafford before deciding whether the goalkeeper should stay, leave permanently, or move elsewhere.
The Italian is known for wanting goalkeepers who are comfortable with the ball at their feet, but football decisions often depend on many different factors. Trafford could still have a future at City if the new manager believes he fits his plans.
That uncertainty means Leeds may have to wait for City’s internal decisions before any transfer can move forward.

Leeds Must Stay Patient
Leeds United have shown this summer that they are aiming high in the transfer market. The club wants players who can help them improve again after securing Premier League safety last season.
James Trafford is clearly one of the names high on their shortlist, but this is unlikely to become one of the quickest deals of the summer.
There are several hurdles still to overcome before Leeds can think about welcoming him to Elland Road.
For now, the Whites will continue working behind the scenes while also pushing ahead with other transfer targets. If the opportunity to sign Trafford becomes more realistic later in the window, Leeds will no doubt be ready to make their move.
The interest remains genuine, but patience could be the key if Daniel Farke is to land one of England’s brightest young goalkeepers.
