Leeds United have stepped up their efforts to strengthen the attack before the transfer window closes after making contact over a possible deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan.
The South Korean attacker has become one of the latest names linked with a late move to Elland Road, with Leeds understood to be exploring several options as Daniel Farke looks to add more depth to his forward line.
Hwang’s situation at Wolves has changed significantly this season. The 30-year-old was an important player for the club during previous campaigns, but he has been left out of the first-team picture under new head coach Cesar Peixoto.
That has opened the door for a potential transfer, with Wolves understood to be willing to consider offers for the forward.
According to the latest reports, Leeds are not the only club showing an interest. Crystal Palace, Hull City and Burnley have also been linked with the player, while Ipswich Town have considered making a move as well.
However, Ipswich’s attention appears to have moved elsewhere, with the club reportedly progressing towards a deal for Burnley midfielder Zian Flemming.
That could leave Leeds with a stronger opportunity to compete for Hwang, particularly because the Whites can offer Premier League football and a chance to fight for regular minutes.

Leeds looking for one more attacking option
Leeds have already made several important additions to Farke’s squad this summer, including the signing of Harry Wilson.
Despite that investment, the manager is still looking at ways to improve his attacking options before the deadline.
Hwang is an interesting possibility because of his experience at Premier League level and his ability to operate in different attacking positions.
The forward has spent several years in English football and has shown that he can contribute goals as well as provide energy and movement in the final third.
His best season at Wolves came in 2023/24 when he scored 13 goals across all competitions and added three assists. That campaign showed the level Hwang can reach when he is playing with confidence and regularity.
His numbers have dropped since then, but Leeds may believe a change of surroundings could help him rediscover his best form.

The figures show a player who has already proved he can be productive in the Premier League, even though his output has been inconsistent across different seasons.
For Leeds, that could make Hwang a useful option rather than simply another squad player.
The Whites need players who can provide competition and cover across the attacking positions, especially with the demands of a Premier League campaign.

Leeds face competition for Hwang
The biggest problem for Leeds could be the number of clubs interested in Hwang.
Crystal Palace are reportedly among the teams looking at the forward, while Hull City and Burnley have also been mentioned as possible destinations.
Palace could offer Hwang a return to a familiar club, but their attacking options could make guaranteed playing time difficult.
Hull, meanwhile, are expected to have a difficult fight at the other end of the table, while Burnley would represent a move into the Championship. Leeds can therefore offer something different.
A move to Elland Road would give Hwang the chance to remain in the Premier League while joining a club that wants to establish itself after returning to the top flight.
There is also a clear footballing reason for Leeds to consider the move.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to remain an important part of Farke’s plans, but having another experienced forward would give the manager more choices during a long season.
Hwang could provide competition for places while also allowing Farke to change his attacking system when required.
Leeds are also working on other deadline-day business. The club have been pushing ahead with a deal for Nice left-back Melvin Bard, who is viewed as competition for Gabriel Gudmundsson.
That means the final stages of the transfer window could still be very busy around Elland Road.
For Hwang, the next few hours will be important. He has not publicly indicated which club he would prefer to join, leaving the door open for Leeds and the other interested sides.
The Whites have now made their interest clear by making contact, but there is still plenty of work to do before a transfer can be considered close. Farke will hope Leeds can find an agreement because adding an experienced Premier League forward could give his squad another useful option.
With the deadline approaching, Hwang’s future is one to watch closely, and Leeds could yet make another attacking move before the window shuts.
