Premier League Snub Leaves Daniel Farke Frustrated as Leeds United React to Surprise Announcement

by Alex Matthews

Daniel Farke has done a huge job at Leeds United this season, but many supporters now feel the Leeds United manager has been treated unfairly after missing out on the Premier League Manager of the Season shortlist.

Before the campaign started, a lot of people expected Leeds to struggle badly in the top flight.

Some even tipped the Whites to go straight back down to the Championship after promotion. Questions were also asked about Farke because of his previous Premier League spells with Norwich City.

But the German coach has answered those critics in the best way possible.

Leeds are now safe in the Premier League with games still left to play, and the club also enjoyed a brilliant run in the FA Cup, reaching the semi-final FA Cup stage at Wembley. For many fans, that achievement alone should have put Farke into the conversation for the top manager award.

Daniel Farke Changed Leeds United This Season

One big reason why Leeds stayed up was the way Farke adapted his tactics during the season.

In the past, Farke liked to play attacking football with a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation. However, this season, he changed things when Leeds needed more balance in difficult Premier League games in a season where every point mattered.

The Leeds United manager moved to a 5-3-2 setup in several matches, helping the team become stronger at the back while still carrying danger in attack. That tactical change helped Leeds pick up key results against sides around them.

It also showed growth from the manager. Critics often said Farke could only play one way, but this season proved something different.

Many supporters now believe this has been the best work of Farke’s career, especially because Leeds did not spend money like some of the bigger clubs around them.

When looking at Daniel Farke’s teams coached over the years, this season could become one of his most important achievements because of the pressure around the club after promotion.

Leeds Survival Was Never Guaranteed

The gap between the Championship and Premier League has become massive in recent years.

Several promoted clubs have gone straight back down after struggling to compete financially and tactically. Leeds were expected to face the same problem this season.

Instead, Farke helped create a side that fought hard every week. Leeds collected important wins at Elland Road and also managed to improve away from home as the campaign continued.

The Whites played with confidence, energy, and belief for large parts of the season. Reaching safety before the final weeks of the campaign was a huge achievement considering the level of competition.

Leeds also gave fans special memories in the Leeds FA Cup run. Their journey to the FA Cup semi-final 2026 brought excitement back to supporters and showed the team could compete with strong Premier League opposition.

For a newly-promoted club, balancing league survival with a cup run is never easy. Yet Leeds managed to do both under Farke.

Why Fans Feel The Snub Is Harsh

The Premier League shortlist included several top managers from clubs with much bigger budgets and world-class squads.

While some names fully deserved recognition, many Leeds supporters feel Farke should also have been included after exceeding expectations this season.

Keeping Leeds up while rebuilding confidence around the club was not an easy task. The pressure at Elland Road is always intense, especially after promotion.

Farke stayed calm throughout the season and slowly turned doubters into believers.

The Leeds United manager also improved several players and created a team spirit that supporters connected with again. Fans can now look ahead with hope instead of fear.

In modern football, surviving a full set of games in a Premier League season as a promoted club is a major achievement on its own.

Farke may not have received the nomination, but many Leeds supporters feel his work deserves huge respect across English football.

For Leeds fans, the most important thing is clear, the club is safe, competitive again, and dreaming about an even stronger future under Daniel Farke.
