Leeds United have continued their work behind the scenes by completing a move for promising young striker Ditmir Hodja.
The Whites have confirmed that the 18-year-old forward has signed a three-year contract and will initially join the club’s Academy Under-21s side at Thorp Arch.
This is not a first-team signing, but it is still an interesting move for Leeds as the club looks to build a stronger pathway for young players.
Hodja has already gained experience in senior football despite his young age. The 6ft 4in centre-forward played in the top division in his homeland last season and showed enough potential to convince Leeds to bring him in permanently after a successful trial.
The striker had been playing for FK Rabotnicki in North Macedonia, where he managed six goals in 22 appearances across all competitions before recently turning 18.
For a young striker who is still learning the senior game, those numbers will have caught the attention of Leeds’ recruitment team.
The move also gives Hodja the chance to develop in a completely different football environment, with the Under-21s providing his next step before he can think about challenging for a senior place.

Leeds United see potential in 6ft 4in striker
One of the first things that stands out about Hodja is his physical profile. Standing at 6ft 4in, he already has the size that can make life difficult for defenders. However, Leeds will not simply be signing him because of his height.
His recent record suggests there is genuine attacking potential to develop.
Hodja finished last season strongly for Rabotnicki, registering four goal involvements across his final five league matches.
That is particularly encouraging because he was only just getting used to regular senior football. Instead of struggling towards the end of the campaign, the youngster appeared to become more comfortable and more involved in attacking situations.
He also gained European experience by featuring for Rabotnicki in a UEFA Conference League qualifying match. That experience should help him as he moves into English football.
There will obviously be a big difference between playing in North Macedonia and competing in the Leeds Academy, but having already played senior football gives Hodja a useful starting point.
Leeds will now want to improve the other parts of his game and help him become a more complete centre-forward. The Under-21s should provide the right environment for that.
Ditmir Hodja has already represented North Macedonia
Another encouraging part of Hodja’s development is his international background. The striker has already represented North Macedonia at youth level, most recently playing for the country’s Under-19 side.
Before that, he had also featured for the U17s and U18s and produced some good goalscoring numbers during those age-group campaigns.

That suggests he has been viewed as a player with potential for some time. For Leeds, the objective will now be to help him make the next jump.
Moving to a Premier League club can bring much higher demands, particularly around speed, physicality and tactical understanding. Hodja will need time.
Leeds should not rush him into the first-team picture simply because of his size or his senior goalscoring record. The better approach is to allow him to settle into life in England, understand the club’s footballing style and gradually improve.
The fact that he has signed a three-year contract shows that Leeds are thinking about his long-term development rather than expecting an immediate return.

Leeds United continue to build for the future
This signing also says something about Leeds’ wider recruitment approach. The club has spent plenty of money on first-team players since returning to the Premier League, but academy recruitment remains important.
Signing a player like Hodja gives Leeds another potential route to develop their own talent rather than always needing to spend large fees on established players.
There is no guarantee that Hodja will become a first-team player at Elland Road. That needs to be made clear. Young strikers can develop at very different speeds, and the jump from youth football to the Premier League is huge.
But Leeds have seen enough from Hodja to believe that he is worth investing in.
His six goals in 22 senior appearances, strong finish to last season, European experience and international background give the club plenty to work with.
His physical presence could also become a useful part of his game as he develops. For now, though, the focus should be on his Under-21 career.
Hodja can settle into the club, learn from the coaching staff and compete against stronger opposition in England. If his development continues at the right speed, opportunities further up the club could eventually arrive.
For Leeds United, this is therefore a low-risk move with potentially high rewards.
The Whites have secured a young striker with senior experience, international exposure and an impressive physical profile on a three-year deal. The hard work starts now.
Ditmir Hodja has arrived at Thorp Arch, and Leeds will hope this is the beginning of a very interesting journey.
