Marcelo Bielsa, the man who brought Leeds United back to the Premier League, is still in the hearts of fans.
Even after leaving the club, Bielsa’s name is sung at Elland Road. Now, he’s taken on a special new role for Leeds fans living in Spain and Portugal.
Bielsa has agreed to become the honorary president of Leeds United Iberia, a supporters group made for Leeds fans living across the Iberian Peninsula.
The group includes fans from Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, Andorra, and the Balearic Islands.
Leeds United Iberia Grows Stronger
Leeds United Iberia started in summer 2024 and quickly brought together fans from cities like Madrid, Lisbon, Valencia, and Malaga.
Even more fans are now joining from places like Barcelona and Benidorm.
Chairman Martin Bland shared the big news with members. He said the group wanted a leader who was just as strong and exciting as the group itself and they chose Marcelo Bielsa.
To everyone’s joy, Bielsa accepted the offer.
Bielsa’s Legacy Still Shines

Marcelo Bielsa was in charge of Leeds United for almost four years. Under him, the team played fast, attacking football and earned promotion to the Premier League in 2020, ending a 16-year wait.
He also helped Leeds finish in the top 10 of the Premier League, something many fans never thought they’d see again.
Even after he left in 2022, fans kept singing his name. In one emotional moment, Bielsa told Leeds supporters in Norway that his time at the club was “amazing” and that he “would have given it all to end it in a better way.”
Now managing the Uruguay national team, Bielsa is still close to the Leeds family. By accepting the role with Leeds United Iberia, he has shown he still cares about the fans and the club.
Marching On Together: Across Europe
The group has already done big things. In April, they brought fans from different parts of Iberia to a match at Elland Road.
They plan to do the same every season and with Leeds back in the Premier League, there’s a lot to look forward to.
Leeds United Iberia is more than just a fan group, it’s a growing family of supporters. With Marcelo Bielsa as their president, their future looks even brighter.
