Shock Exit Brewing at Leeds: Second Star ‘Convinced’ to Quit After Firpo Departure Bombshell

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United have already said goodbye to one defender this summer, and now a second one could be on his way out too.

Firpo’s Time at Leeds Comes to an End

It’s now official, Junior Firpo is leaving Leeds United. The 28-year-old full-back is heading back to Spain, with Real Betis set to be his next stop.

His move was first mentioned by Fabrizio Romano, and now it’s finally confirmed.

Firpo spent four seasons at Elland Road and had a strong end to the last campaign, helping Leeds push for success.

But both the club and the player agreed it was time for a fresh start.

Now, manager Daniel Farke needs to find someone new to fill that position. Reports suggest Leeds could bring in as many as five full-backs to improve their defence.

Schmidt Also Looking for the Exit?

But Firpo might not be the only left-back leaving this summer. Isaac Schmidt, another full-back at Leeds, could be on his way out as well.

Schmidt only joined Leeds last season but didn’t get many chances to show his skills.

He played just 12 games and only spent 71 minutes on the pitch, a surprisingly low number for someone expected to compete for a starting spot.

Many fans feel he was treated unfairly. Despite his performances for St. Gallen before arriving in England and doing well with the Swiss national team, Schmidt never really got his chance at Leeds.

Agent Speaks Out on Schmidt’s Future

Now his agent, Baykal Bellusci, has shared an update on what could come next. In an interview with Blick, Bellusci said:

“He has matured and proved himself with the national team. This is a World Cup year, and the focus should be on playing time, not money. I believe we’ll find a good solution this summer.”

This shows Schmidt wants to play regular football and he may not stay if that won’t happen at Leeds.

Final Chance or Final Goodbye?

With Firpo gone, some fans think Schmidt could now get more chances in the Premier League.

But if Daniel Farke doesn’t promise him game time, Schmidt could choose to leave.

Right now, the situation feels unfair. One fan even called it a “joke” that he only played 71 minutes all season. Schmidt still has time to prove himself but only if he’s given the chance.
