Leeds United have confirmed the permanent sale of a midfielder who has been at the club for five years.
The player has now moved to Polish side Pogon in a deal worth around €4million, with a three-year contract and an option for one more year.
This news was first reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, and it means another player has now left Elland Road as Daniel Farke continues to shape his squad.
Fabrizio Romano: Greenwood’s Time at Leeds Comes to an End
The midfielder first joined Leeds from Arsenal back in 2020 for a fee of around £1.5million.
At the time, there was excitement about his talent and potential.
He made a number of appearances in the first team and showed flashes of ability, but he never really managed to nail down a regular spot in the squad.
In the last two seasons, he was sent out on loan. First to Middlesbrough, and then to Preston.
Both clubs used him, but neither side decided to sign him on a permanent deal.
This meant he returned to Leeds each summer, but without a real place in Farke’s plans.
Reports also said that during pre-season this summer, he was left out of the main training group and had to work on his own at Thorp Arch.
That was a clear sign that a move away was on the cards.

A Fresh Start in Poland
Now, the move has gone through, and the midfielder is heading to Poland for a new challenge.
Pogon have put their faith in him with a long-term deal, and the transfer also gives Leeds a decent profit compared to the fee they first paid Arsenal.
From LUFC News point of view, the deal makes sense.
The club needed to cut down on fringe players and reduce the wage bill.
This sale does exactly that, while also helping the club with financial rules like PSR.
For the player, it’s also a big chance to revive his career.
Things did not work out the way he or Leeds hoped, but a fresh start in a new league might help him get back on track and play regular football.
LUFC News: Leeds Move On
It is always a little sad when a player leaves after so many years without fully proving himself, but this looks like the right time for both sides to part ways.
Leeds are now focused on their Premier League season and the transfer window, while Pogon have gained a young midfielder with experience of English football.
For Leeds fans, this deal shows that Daniel Farke is serious about reshaping the squad.
While some may be disappointed to see him go, most will agree that it is the right move for everyone involved.
