Leeds Plot Bold Swoop for £100k-a-Week Premier League Wall After Bornauw Deal

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are looking to bring in a big name between the sticks, and they’ve now set their sights on Nick Pope from Newcastle United.

The 33-year-old keeper could be on his way to Elland Road if things go right in the transfer window.

Daniel Farke wants to boost his squad after getting Leeds back to the Premier League, and Pope is seen as the man to help the team stay up next season.

Premier League Experience Wanted

Nick Pope is no small name. He’s played over 220 Premier League games and has shown he’s one of the best in the league when fully fit.

Last season for Newcastle, Pope played 28 games, kept 8 clean sheets, and let in 35 goals, not bad at all for a side with ups and downs.

He did miss some matches with a knee injury in December but came back strong for the last 13 matches of the season.

That kind of recovery shows his fight and quality, which Leeds will need in goal.

Newcastle’s New Keeper Could Open Door

Leeds are watching Newcastle’s interest in Burnley’s James Trafford very closely.

If Newcastle land Trafford, that could push Pope down the pecking order and that’s where Leads come in.

The Whites are ready to step in and try to convince the Pope to join.

They know they need strong players in goal, especially if they’re going to stay in the Premier League after promotion.

Meslier Likely To Leave

With Illan Meslier linked with a summer exit, Pope is seen as the ideal replacement. He’s experienced, proven, and knows the league inside out.

That’s exactly the kind of player Leeds want in this key position.

Pope is on a big contract at Newcastle, around £100,000 a week and his deal runs until 2026. So Leeds might need to make a strong offer to get him.

But with Premier League safety on the line, it could be worth every penny.

Leeds are moving smart in the transfer market. With Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha already through the door, and talks ongoing for Sebastiaan Bornauw, bringing in Pope would give the squad a real backbone.

This is the kind of move that could make or break the season. Now it’s all eyes on Newcastle and Trafford.

If that move happens, Leeds could be one step closer to landing a top-class keeper.
