Leeds United got a massive win at Wolves, but not everyone is sure they can stay up in the Premier League.
Former England forward Danny Murphy has said he still thinks Leeds could go down this season, even after that exciting night in the West Midlands.
Leeds Show Fight at Molineux
The rain was heavy, but the goals finally came for Leeds. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor all scored their first goals for the club in the 3-1 win over Wolves.
Fans were buzzing, as it looked like the floodgates had opened at last.
Daniel Farke’s side had been under pressure for not scoring enough earlier in the season. Before Wolves, Leeds had only scored once in four games, and that was a penalty.
So, seeing three different players hit the net was a huge lift for the supporters.
The Opta Supercomputer even dropped Leeds’ chances of going down after this result, giving fans more reason to dream of survival.
Farke himself was proud of how his team finally showed some quality in front of goal. Calvert-Lewin, who has been questioned many times before, got special praise for his sharp finish.

Murphy Still Not Convinced
But Danny Murphy isn’t buying into the optimism. Speaking on Talksport’s White & Jordan show, the ex-Premier League man said he still sees big danger for Leeds.
“I think Leeds and Burnley will go,” Murphy explained. “The problem is firepower. Burnley don’t score enough.
Leeds had only one goal before Wolves gifted them chances. I like Leeds, and Calvert-Lewin is a handful, but I don’t think it will be enough.”
Murphy added that while he enjoys seeing promoted sides compete, he doesn’t believe all of them will survive. He feels Sunderland may have a better shot, but for Leeds and Burnley the battle will be very hard.
Leeds Already Ahead of Last Year’s Strugglers
Even with Murphy’s warning, Leeds can take hope from the numbers. They already have seven points from their first five games.
That’s the same amount Southampton managed in their entire season at the bottom last year.
Southampton only won twice and finished with 12 points before heading back to the Championship. Ipswich and Leicester also struggled, ending far from safety.
Leeds, by contrast, already sit on 20% of Leicester’s total from last season.
This shows Leeds are not just fighting, they are picking up results too. If they keep the energy from Wolves and spread the goals around, they could silence the doubters.
For Daniel Farke, the challenge is simple: keep the momentum going. Leeds must prove the Wolves game was not a one-off.
They need Calvert-Lewin to stay sharp, Stach to keep pushing from midfield, and the whole team to be ruthless when chances come.
Leeds fans know survival will not be easy, but with a solid start, there is belief. Danny Murphy might think Leeds will drop, but the players now have the chance to prove him wrong.
