Chaos Before Kick-Off: Man City Hit With Big Blows as Leeds Get Four Stars Back for Huge Premier League Clash

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are getting ready for one of the hardest games of their whole Premier League season, a massive trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City.

The match comes at a very difficult time for the Whites, with injuries, doubts, pressure and poor form all hitting together.

But there is also some good news, as a few key players are finally back.

This latest football injury news shows that both Leeds United and Manchester City will enter this game with problems, and that could make the match very unpredictable.

Stach Doubt Adds Big Worry for Leeds

One of the biggest concerns ahead of Manchester City vs Leeds United is midfielder Anton Stach, who picked up a nasty head injury in the defeat against Aston Villa.

Stach tried to continue but had to come off through a concussion substitution.

Now the German international must go through more tests, and he is a major doubt for the match.

His absence would be a big blow, because Leeds need strength and calmness in midfield when facing a team like Manchester City.

Losing Stach in such an important moment is the last thing Leeds fans wanted to hear.

Four Key Leeds Players Return and Bring Hope

Even though Stach is doubtful, Leeds also had some positive signs, as four important players are now available again.

Willy Gnonto Back and Ready

Italian winger Willy Gnonto made his long-awaited return last weekend, ending months out with calf problems and minor surgery.

He only played ten minutes, but he looked sharp and hungry. Gnonto’s pace could give Leeds a chance to hit City on the counter.

Dan James Lively Again

Dan James, who came back earlier than expected from an ankle injury, is also building up minutes.

He looked bright when he came on against Villa, and many fans feel he could start against City.

Sebastiaan Bornauw Available

Belgian defender Sebastiaan Bornauw is now fully fit after his MCL issue.

He did not make the Villa squad, but Daniel Farke confirmed the centre-back is available.

His return gives Leeds more defensive choices, something they will badly need against City’s attack.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin Back in Match Squad

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also match-ready after recovering from a muscle strain.

He came off the bench in the last two games, and with the Etihad test coming, Leeds may need him for physical presence up top.

These four returns give Leeds new energy and depth for the massive Leeds United v Manchester City showdown.

Manchester City Also Hit With Injury Trouble

Manchester City may have a huge squad, but they have their own problems too.

The biggest news is that star midfielder Rodri is still out. The Ballon d’Or nominee has been missing for weeks with a hamstring issue and will not be fully ready for this weekend.

City are also managing a tight schedule. They play Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League midweek, only four days before Leeds arrive. Fatigue could play a role.

With Kovacic also ruled out after ankle surgery, City’s midfield is weaker than usual, something Leeds might try to target.

A Giant Test for Leeds United

This match is massive. Leeds just lost 2-1 to Aston Villa and now have to face the champions away from home.

But with four players back, with City missing Rodri, and with pressure growing, this could be one of those games where something unexpected happens.

Leeds will need:

  • strong defending
  • fast counter-attacks
  • full concentration
  • no silly mistakes

The latest football injury news shows problems for both teams, but Leeds fans will hope the returning players make a big difference.

Saturday at the Etihad will tell us everything.
