Transfer Bombshell: French Giants Launch Shock Raid for Leeds United Hero as Farke Left on Edge

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United had a mix start to the new Premier League season. Daniel Farke’s side got off well against Everton at Elland Road, but the weeks after showed the team still need work.

Now, after the international break, Farke is ready to push his players again and get back to winning ways.

Up and down start for the Whites

Leeds made fans smile when they beat Everton with style. The team looked sharp and strong at home.

But the joy didn’t last long. A trip to Arsenal saw the Gunners hit five goals past the Whites, a big reminder of how tough life is in the Premier League.

After that, things got worse in the Carabao Cup. Leeds were knocked out by Sheffield Wednesday on penalties. It was a real blow, as fans hoped for a good cup run.

The players did respond well though. Against Newcastle United, Leeds kept a strong shape and held on for a 0-0 draw.

That gave them a second clean sheet of the season and showed the defence is growing under Farke.

French giants looking at Leeds hero

One big story is about Kalvin Phillips. The former Leeds hero is now at Manchester City, but he has struggled for game time.

Reports in France say Lyon want to bring him in, and maybe even young Nico O’Reilly too. They also like Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

For Leeds fans, the Phillips story is big. If he really wants to leave City and take a pay cut, then some believe Leeds should try and get him back. His fight in midfield is something the Whites still miss today.

New signing speaks on confidence

Summer signing Jaka Bijol, who came in from Udinese, spoke about the mood inside the Leeds camp.

The defender said the squad is “full of confidence” and ready to fight any team. He explained that the players believe in each other and are not scared of big games.

This shows that, even with mixed results, Farke has built a team spirit that can help Leeds through the tough parts of the season.

Pundits split on Longstaff deal

The £12m move for Sean Longstaff has also brought strong talk. Former defender Nedum Onuoha praised it as “sneaky good business”, saying Leeds got a proven Premier League player.

But Jeff Stelling wasn’t too sure. He said Leeds should have signed a proper striker who can score goals every week.

He worries that without a reliable goal scorer, Leeds may struggle to stay safe this season.

What’s next for Leeds

Leeds go to Fulham after the break, and that game will be key. Farke knows he needs to turn the draws and close calls into wins.

With confidence in the squad and new players bedding in, the Whites must now show they belong in the top flight.

Fans will be watching closely, hoping the team can take the positives from the Newcastle match and start building momentum again.
