Leeds United Eye Move for Everton Striker Beto to Boost Attacking Firepower

by Mitchell Burley-Emmerson

Leeds United are reportedly exploring a move for Everton striker Beto as Daniel Farke looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season. With the Whites narrowly missing out on promotion, there’s a clear ambition to add Premier League-quality depth to the squad—and the towering Portuguese forward could be the man to lead the line.

A Statement of Intent

At 6’4”, Beto offers a physical presence that Leeds have lacked since the departure of players like Chris Wood and, more recently, Rodrigo. After joining Everton from Udinese in a deal worth around £25 million last summer, Beto endured a challenging debut Premier League season, scoring just three goals in 33 appearances. However, his struggles were arguably more reflective of Everton’s lack of attacking cohesion than the striker’s ability. In more recent times Beto managed eight goals in thirty appearances last season.

Still only 27, Beto has shown flashes of real quality, particularly in Serie A where he hit double figures for goals in consecutive seasons. His blend of strength, hold-up play, and aerial dominance makes him a real handful for defenders—qualities that could thrive in a Leeds side playing on the front foot in the Championship or beyond.

Why Beto Fits Leeds United

Leeds have shown this season that they can dominate possession and create chances, but there have been times when a lack of clinical finishing has cost them dearly. Patrick Bamford’s ongoing injury issues and inconsistency have left Leeds light up top, while Joel Piroe has often played in a deeper or wide role rather than as an out-and-out No. 9.

Beto could offer something different: a focal point, a target man, and a player who can bring others into the game while also carrying a goal threat of his own. His Premier League experience—albeit limited—would be invaluable in a dressing room full of hungry, young talent.

Financial and Tactical Considerations

With Everton facing ongoing financial pressure and potential PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) constraints, a deal for Beto could become realistic, particularly if the Toffees look to recoup funds to strengthen elsewhere. Leeds would likely pursue a loan with an option to buy, or a structured deal, especially if Premier League promotion is part of the plan for next season.

For Daniel Farke, Beto could be the kind of striker that brings balance to his attacking setup: capable of playing as a lone striker or in a two, useful in both counter-attacking and possession-based systems, and a reliable out-ball when Leeds need to bypass pressure.

A Move That Signals Ambition

A move for Beto would not only signal ambition but also demonstrate a clear plan: to make a statement signing since returning to the Premier League, stronger, smarter, and more complete. Whether it’s in a top-tier push next season or a long-term squad-building approach, targeting a striker of Beto’s profile could be the catalyst Leeds need to turn a relegation battle into more assuring and decisive results.
