Leeds Close in on “£17m Warrior”: Farke’s Premier League War Chest Unleashed!

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are close to making their first big summer signing and at the same time, Max Wöber could finally leave the club for good.

Manager Daniel Farke is building his squad for the Premier League next season.

One of the key positions he wants to improve is defence. That’s why Leeds have been working hard to sign Jaka Bijol from Udinese.

Wöber Set to Leave Leeds

Since returning from his loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Wöber has not really been accepted back into the team.

He’s not had many chances and made it clear he wants to leave for more playing time.

Reports say the 27-year-old is pushing for a move away from Elland Road.

He only played eight matches in the 2024/25 season, and Farke doesn’t see him as part of the club’s future plans.

Wöber wants regular football, and Farke wants players who are 100% committed to Leeds United’s Premier League challenge.

So this is a deal that could work well for both sides.

Bijol Transfer Talks Looking Positive

At the same time, Leeds are moving closer to signing Jaka Bijol.

The Slovenian defender played 34 games in Serie A last season and is known for his strength and leadership at the back.

Leeds were first told it would cost them £16 million, but now the price has gone up to £17 million.

Still, the club is happy to increase their offer because they believe Bijol is worth it.

Top football journalist Marco Conterio has said the talks are “progressing well.”

Both clubs are happy with how the talks are going, and a deal could be done very soon.

Farke Building for a Tough Season

Daniel Farke knows the Premier League will be tough. Leeds won the Championship, but they need to improve the squad to stay up.

Bijol has top-level experience and could give the team more quality at the back.

Right now, Leeds have good defenders like Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon, but Farke wants more depth.

Injuries and long seasons make it important to have strong back-up options.

Also, Ethan Ampadu has filled in at centre-back, but he’s better in midfield. Signing Bijol would let Farke put Ampadu back in his best position.

A Win-Win for Leeds

If Leeds sign Bijol and let Wöber leave, it could be a win for everyone.

  • Wöber gets his move

  • Farke gets a strong new defender

  • Leeds start the window with a big signing

The 49ers ownership are also showing they’re ready to spend. Backing Farke early shows real intent to fight and stay in the Premier League.

Leeds are not wasting time this summer. They’re working smart, selling the players who want to leave and signing those who can make a difference.

Jaka Bijol could be the first big piece of the puzzle, and it looks like he could be wearing the white shirt very soon.
