Leeds United are having a busy summer in the transfer market. The Whites have already brought in new players to get ready for life back in the Premier League.
Manager Daniel Farke has added strength to the team, especially in defence and midfield.
Big names like Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach have joined, and a new goalkeeper, Lucas Perri from Lyon, is set to arrive too.
But while new faces are coming in, one player looks set to leave. That man is young striker Mateo Joseph.
Joseph has shocked the club by handing in a transfer request. He’s also refused to join the rest of the squad for pre-season training in Germany. This has made his situation clear, he wants out.
Real Betis Want Him, But Leeds Want a Loan
Joseph is wanted by Spanish club Real Betis, who already tried to sign him in the January transfer window.
Now, they’ve come back again. The 20-year-old striker is keen to return to Spain, and Betis are offering a loan deal with the option to buy later.
But Leeds have other plans.

The club does not want to sell him this summer. Instead, they want to send him on a simple loan, no option to buy, no future deal attached.
Leeds believe Joseph still has big potential and could be worth a lot more money next year if he has a good season.
Reports say Leeds were looking for around £13 million for him earlier, but now it looks like they want to wait and see how he performs first.
Farke Says No to Bad Attitudes
One thing is for sure, Joseph is not part of Daniel Farke’s future plans anymore.
The manager wants players who are fully committed and focused. A player who refuses to train doesn’t fit that idea.
With Leeds trying to bring in a new striker this summer, Joseph’s chances of playing were already slim.
Now, after the transfer request, it’s only a matter of time before he’s out the door.
The club and player are still stuck in talks, but everyone agrees, Joseph will leave before the window closes at the end of August.
