From Outcast to Golden Boy: Leeds Board Demand Mateo Joseph’s Explosive Return

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United fans saw big drama in the last transfer window as striker Mateo Joseph forced a way out of Elland Road.

He didn’t even turn up for pre-season training after taking a long break in the summer.

This pushed boss Daniel Farke to leave him out of his plans, and Joseph ended up joining Mallorca on loan in Spain.

But the Leeds board have now spoken out. They are clear, Joseph will return next season, and he’s still a big part of the future.

Loan Move Without Any Buy Option

Leeds made it very clear during the summer, there would be no option to buy in Joseph’s loan deal.

This killed off interest from Real Betis, who wanted him since last January, but were only looking for a permanent deal.

In the end, Mallorca agreed to Leeds’ terms. They signed Joseph on a simple season-long loan, meaning the striker will return to Elland Road at the end of the campaign.

So far, the 21-year-old has not scored for Mallorca. On top of that, reports say there are already some issues in the dressing room in Spain.

But Leeds remain hopeful that the youngster can improve his game with more minutes on the pitch.

Leeds Board and Chairman Still Rate Joseph

Leeds United’s managing director Robbie Evans told local media that Joseph was sent out only to gain more match time and experience.

He made it very clear that the club were never ready to sell him.

Evans even revealed that club chairman Paraag Marathe is a big admirer of the young striker.

“He’s a favourite of the club and the chairman,” Evans explained. “Our hope is that he has a great season at Mallorca and comes back stronger.”

For Leeds, the decision was all about protecting a player they believe can be key in the long term.

Can Joseph and Farke Work Together Again?

While the board is backing Joseph, there is another problem to face. His relationship with boss Daniel Farke looks broken.

The German coach was angry that Joseph refused to come back for pre-season.

At the same time, Joseph felt he was not given enough trust by the manager.

This situation has left fans wondering, can the two work together again?

Leeds point to Farke’s handling of Jack Harrison, who was reintegrated after leaving in the summer.

They hope the same can happen with Joseph.

What It Means for Leeds Fans

For now, Joseph’s future is clear. He is on loan, but Leeds are not giving up on him.

The board, the chairman, and even many fans still believe he could return and play a big role in the coming years.

But when he comes back, one thing is certain, Daniel Farke and Mateo Joseph will need to rebuild trust.

If that happens, Leeds could get back a hungry striker ready to prove himself in front of the Elland Road crowd.
