Leeds United have been really active this summer. They’ve already signed six new players to make the team better as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
Manager Daniel Farke is happy with how things are going. He said they had a plan and have followed it well.
The first job was to fix the defence and midfield. That’s where Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff came in, both strong names who bring Premier League experience and fresh energy.
Another big move is coming too. Leeds needed a better goalkeeper because Illan Meslier didn’t impress last season.
So, the club made a deal with Lyon to sign Lucas Perri for £15 million, a big step up for the team between the sticks.
Douglas Luiz Wants to Come Back to England
Now the Whites have turned their focus to signing forwards like Rodrigo Muniz and Igor Paixao, but there was also talk about a big-name midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus.
Luiz, who used to play for Aston Villa, wants to come back to the Premier League.
Reports say he didn’t even show up for pre-season training with Juventus. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says Luiz is now forcing a move after falling out with the club.
Leeds were very interested earlier in the summer. The player has a strong record in England and was a top performer at Villa.
However, Juventus want £35 million for him, and his wages are very high. Even if it’s a loan, Juventus want the club to pay his full wages.
Why It Might Not Happen for Leeds
Now, after signing Longstaff and Stach, and already having Ampadu, Tanaka, and Gruev in the squad, Leeds look set in midfield.
So it seems the chance of getting Douglas Luiz is now very low.
His agent is still in Italy trying to sort out the best move for him, and other Premier League clubs are watching closely too.
So even though Leeds were in the race, it looks like the timing is off now.
The club’s attention is now firmly on bringing in new attackers, unless a few players leave before the window shuts.
Leeds United have done great work in this transfer window, ticking all the right boxes.
Douglas Luiz might have been a top signing, but with so many midfielders already in, it’s looking like a missed chance.
Still, fans can be excited, more new signings could be on the way soon!
