Leeds United Urged to Axe £15m Star for Wolves Clash: Shock Call for Fan Favourite Return

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are heading to Molineux this Saturday for a big Premier League clash against Wolves.

After a tough 1-0 loss at Fulham, the Whites need a strong response.

The game could play a key role in shaping the season, as Wolves are struggling badly and have lost all four of their opening league matches.

Leeds sit on four points from four games. That’s not terrible, but the real worry is that the team has not scored a single goal from open play this season.

The attack looks weak, and fans are calling for change. Manager Daniel Farke is usually loyal with his team picks, but now he may need to be brave and shake things up.

Time to Drop Longstaff and Start Tanaka

One of the big questions for Farke is whether he should drop Sean Longstaff, the £15m summer signing, and bring back Ao Tanaka into midfield.

Tanaka has just recovered from a knee injury and was on the bench against Fulham but did not play.

Longstaff played well in earlier matches, especially against Newcastle United, where his fight and experience showed.

But against Fulham, Leeds lacked creativity and control. With Wolves next, this is a chance for Leeds to be more attacking and create chances.

Anton Stach has been working hard in midfield, but he is being asked to do too much, protect the defence and also push forward to create.

That is not fair on him. Bringing in Tanaka would share the creative load, giving Leeds more balance. His energy, passing and ability to link play could help the forwards finally break their open-play drought.

Why This Game Matters So Much

This match is not just another fixture. Wolves are direct rivals in the relegation fight, and losing to them could be a huge setback.

Leeds need to go for three points, not just play safe.

Longstaff still has a big role to play this season. Against top sides, his combative style will be useful. But against Wolves, who are low on confidence and struggling badly, Leeds must take off the handbrake.

Farke cannot afford to be cautious again.

If Tanaka starts and helps Leeds play with more purpose, it could be the turning point of the season.

Fans want to see fights, but also some spark going forward. Wolves away is not easy, but this is a chance that cannot be wasted.

Leeds need more than effort now, they need goals. Dropping Longstaff for Tanaka may feel harsh, but it’s the bold call Farke must make.

The Whites must turn frustration into points, and Saturday at Molineux is the perfect place to do it.
