Leeds Ready to Pounce on 260-Goal Beast After Secret Transfer Twist

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United have been busy in the summer transfer window, but most of their work so far has focused on defence and midfield.

Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, and Gabriel Gudmundsson have all strengthened the backline, while Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have added steel and creativity in the middle of the park.

The only attacking signing so far is Lukas Nmecha, and that is not enough if Leeds want to compete in the Premier League.

With Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph both sidelined, Daniel Farke knows a new striker is needed, someone who can score 15 or more goals this season.

Leeds Eye Mehdi Taremi

One name that has suddenly come up is Mehdi Taremi, the Iranian forward who recently turned 33.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Taremi has a verbal agreement with Inter Milan to leave this summer, and Leeds are believed to have enquired about his availability.

Inter want around £7 million for the striker, and Fulham and West Ham United are also said to be watching the situation closely.

Despite his age, Taremi has proven himself in Europe’s top leagues.

He has scored 260 career goals for both club and country, making him one of the most experienced finishers on the market right now.

Age vs Experience

While Taremi’s experience would be welcome, his age does not quite fit Leeds’ current transfer strategy.

Daniel Farke prefers players close to their prime, usually in their early or mid-20s, who can develop with the team.

A 33-year-old striker would be an unusual move for the club, but it could also be a smart short-term fix for their lack of attacking options.

Leeds fans might remember similar deals in the past where experienced players helped guide younger squads.

Taremi’s clever movement, hold-up play, and ability to score in big matches could make him a useful addition, even if just for a season or two.

What’s Next for Leeds?

With more than £90 million left in their transfer budget, Leeds are expected to bring in a new goalkeeper and a marquee striker before the window closes.

Taremi is one option, but the club might also look for a younger, long-term signing.

Daniel Farke has already built a strong foundation with his summer signings.

Adding a proven goalscorer like Taremi could be the final piece to help Leeds make a strong return to the Premier League.

Fans will be watching closely as this transfer saga unfolds over the coming weeks.
