Four games into the new Premier League season, there is already a clear narrative emerging around Leeds United amongst fans, journalists and pundits alike.
Goals are in desperately short supply.
Daniel Farke’s side have conceded just once outside of the 5-0 hammering at Arsenal, with their defensive shape and midfield proving steady. In their recent away game to Fulham, United narrowly lost against Fulham thanks to an own goal by Gabriel Gudmundsson, raising some alarm bells in the process.
Going forward, United have looked blunt. Just one goal has been scored, with none hitting the back of the net in open play so far.
Despite signing two strikers and a winger in the summer, Leeds lack a creative spark. Farke himself admitted before deadline day that more firepower was needed, but the club failed to deliver after a shambolic end to the summer window.

Wilson Could Push For Move
The 2025/26 season is shaping up to be pivotal for many international players fighting for places at next summer’s World Cup. That includes Fulham winger Harry Wilson, a regular for Wales who featured in their 1-0 qualifier win over Kazakhstan and the narrow friendly defeat to Canada.
Wilson has appeared in all four of Fulham’s league fixtures so far, starting twice. But with late summer arrivals Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze expected to claim regular starting roles in coming weeks, his minutes could soon dwindle under Marco Silva.
Leeds Monitoring Situation
According to Football Insider, Leeds are keeping a close eye on Wilson’s game-time ahead of January and could return with a cut-price offer. The 27-year-old is out of contract at Fulham next summer, meaning his value is likely to drop as the season progresses.
United came close to signing Wilson on deadline day before Fulham pulled the plug at the last minute. With the risk of losing him for nothing, the West London club may now be tempted to cash in. Offering the player up to Leeds gives the West Yorkshire club a chance to solve their attacking problem before the relegation dogfight takes place in the second half of the season.
In defending their spending as part of the fallout to deadline day, the board at Leeds would also look favourably towards going in for Wilson at a cheaper price as opposed to identifying other targets for Farke.
Things may look brighter by January, but the unpredictable nature of the Premier League means that being fully equipped is the best way to fight the battle at the bottom half of the table.
