Leeds Closing In on £22m Wonderkid as Farke Eyes His Next Creative Maestro

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are only days away from starting their Premier League season against Everton at Elland Road.

Fans are excited, but the team still wants new signings before the transfer window closes.

Daniel Farke has brought in some new defenders like Lucas Perri, Sebastiaan Bornauw, and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

But in attack, he has only added Lukas Nmecha so far. Farke knows the team needs more creativity, especially in the number ten role.

Aaronson’s Struggle in Big Games

Brenden Aaronson has been playing in that position, but his numbers last season were not good.

Against the best Championship teams, he did not score or assist in any game. That raises questions about whether he can do well in the Premier League.

Earlier in the summer, Leeds were linked with Emiliano Buendia from Aston Villa.

Farke knows Buendia well from their time at Norwich City, where the Argentine scored and assisted many goals.

But at 28, Buendia is getting older and has never been consistent at Premier League level. Leeds are unlikely to spend big money on him now.

New Target, Bilal El Khannouss

Instead, Leeds are looking at a younger option, Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.

The 21-year-old Morocco international is said to be very keen on joining Leeds.

Reports say his representatives have already spoken with the club, and Leeds have asked Leicester about a deal.

He has a £22m release clause in his contract.

Tottenham Hotspur are also interested, so Leeds will need to move quickly if they want to win the race.

Why El Khannouss Makes Sense

El Khannouss is young, creative, and already has Premier League experience.

Last season, he made 27 starts for Leicester, creating eight big chances and making 1.73 key passes per game.

His stats show he is good at passing into dangerous areas and moving the ball forward.

Even though Leicester were relegated, he still stood out as one of their better players.

With better strikers in front of him, his assist numbers could be much higher.

Signing El Khannouss would give Leeds a long-term creative spark in the number ten role.

Unlike Buendia, he is at the start of his career and has time to improve.

If Leeds can get this deal done, it could be one of the smartest signings of the summer.

The clock is ticking before the window shuts, but with the player wanting the move, Leeds now have the perfect chance to make it happen.
