Leeds United have been feeling good after getting four big points from Chelsea and Liverpool, but the club has now been hit with some worrying transfer news. A fresh report says their dream of signing talented Como playmaker Martin Baturina is basically over before it even started.
This update comes from two major sources, including information linked to Fabrizio Romano transfer news, which many fans always follow closely. With the January transfer window coming fast, this is not the news Daniel Farke wanted to hear.
Leeds’ Move for Baturina Looks Dead Before January Even Starts
Leeds United have been planning for weeks to add more quality to their attack. The club knows they didn’t do enough business in the summer, especially after missing out on players like Harry Wilson and Facundo Buonanotte. Because of that, signing a creative attacker became the top priority for January.
Martin Baturina, a Croatian playmaker now at Como under manager Cesc Fabregas, was seen as the ideal target. He is young, technical, and full of potential. Leeds believed he could bring the spark they have been missing in the final third.
But now, the move is falling apart.
A report from Tuttomercatoweb says the Italian club has blocked Leeds’ approach, even though Baturina has not played many minutes this season. Fabregas still “believes in his qualities” and does not want to lose him.
This lines up with Fabrizio Romano’s latest news, where the well-known transfer expert already confirmed that Como told Leeds “no thanks” when they first tried.
So unless something changes fast, Leeds United might have to forget this deal.
Harry Wilson Deal Also in Trouble Despite Long-Time Interest
Leeds are also still interested in Harry Wilson from Fulham. He was a target in the last days of the summer window, and the club wanted to return for him in January.
Wilson’s contract ends next summer, but the issue is simple: he has become too important for Fulham.
The winger has been one of Marco Silva’s best players this season. He has goals, assists, and top performances every week. Fulham now want him to sign a new contract, and reports say Wilson himself is also interested in staying.
Football Insider and other sources confirm Fulham want to “reward him for his fine performances”. This makes things even harder for Leeds.
So now, Leeds might be in danger of losing two of their biggest January transfer news targets.
Leeds Could Also Explore New Striker Options
Daniel Farke may look for a new striker, too. With injuries to players like Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds have had to use Noah Okafor as a striker, which did not work well.
Names like AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez and a strong Canadian striker have appeared in the rumours, but both deals look very difficult.
Leeds may need to get creative in the January transfer window if they want fresh attackers.
Farke Staying Positive, but More Reinforcements Needed
Even with the transfer worries, Farke is staying calm. He said this week that he is “not fighting for his job” and still has support from the board. But he also knows Leeds must strengthen the squad if they want to stay out of the relegation zone.
Fans will now wait to see what Leeds can pull off in January, but things are clearly becoming more difficult.
