Leeds United have made their eighth signing of the summer, and fans finally have a reason to smile.
Big striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has signed a three-year deal and could even be ready to face Everton in the first Premier League game of the season.
It’s a big boost for boss Daniel Farke, who has been asking for more power up front.
Calvert-Lewin passed his medical and is ready to help Leeds fight to stay in the league.
Farke Wants More Attackers
Even though Calvert-Lewin has arrived, Farke says the job isn’t done yet. Speaking in a press conference, the Leeds manager said:
“We need more reinforcements, especially in attack. Dominic can’t be the only step. I hope by the end of the window we have a squad that can fight to stay in this league.”
Farke also reminded everyone that Leeds still haven’t replaced Manor Solomon, the loan star from Spurs who scored 10 goals and made 12 assists last season when Leeds won the Championship.
Leeds Lose Out on Doak
One player Leeds will not be signing is Ben Doak from Liverpool.
The young winger was on Leeds’ list of targets, but Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Bournemouth have agreed a £25 million deal to sign him.
Leeds had the chance to make a move, but the opportunity has now gone.
Doak could have brought speed and skill to the wings, something Leeds have been searching for since missing out on Igor Paixao earlier this summer.
Who Could Come Next?
Now that Doak is gone, Leeds are looking at other names.
Reports say Noah Okafor from AC Milan is a possible new target. He has pace, can play wide, and would give Farke another option in attack.
There’s also some good news from inside the club. Jack Harrison will be staying at Leeds this season.
He impressed Farke in pre-season and could help fill the gap left by Solomon.
Time Running Out
The transfer window closes soon, and Leeds still need to bring in a winger and maybe even another striker.
Calvert-Lewin’s signing is a great start, but Farke is clear, if Leeds want to survive in the Premier League, they must add more goals and assists.
The next few days will be massive for the club. Fans will be watching closely to see if Leeds can land another big name before the deadline.
