Leeds United are busy this summer and could be ready to land a third top signing after moves for Jaka Bijol and Habib Diarra.
Now, Eduard Spertsyan has opened the door to a move, and it could be just what Leeds need.
Spertsyan Wants a Big Move to Europe
Spertsyan is a 25-year-old attacking midfielder who plays for Russian side Krasnodar. He is also the captain of his club and a key player for his country, Armenia.
While playing for Armenia during the international break, Spertsyan spoke about his dream to move to Europe this summer.
“The dream is there, to play in Europe, in top-level Champions League and Europa League matches,” he said.
Leeds fans will love to hear that because the club is looking for a new no.10 after a season of mixed results in that position.
Why Leeds Need a New No.10
Last season, Brenden Aaronson didn’t impress enough. He only got 11 goals and assists in the Championship and missed many chances. Leeds need someone with more class and control in attack.
Spertsyan could be the answer. He had 18 goals and assists last season alone and has been involved in 76 goals in 143 games for Krasnodar.
That’s serious quality and all for a fee believed to be around £17 million.
More Transfers Still Needed
Leeds aren’t done yet. While Bijol will strengthen the defence and Diarra brings energy to midfield, the club still wants a goalkeeper, a striker, and someone to replace Junior Firpo and Manor Solomon.
Also, with Joe Rothwell leaving, the team needs a set-piece expert. Spertsyan is known for his free-kicks and could easily fill that gap.
Farke and the 49ers Mean Business
Daniel Farke and the 49ers ownership are working with a £150 million transfer budget, and they are clearly not messing about.
With plans to push for success in the Premier League, signing someone like Spertsyan would show fans they’re aiming high.
Eduard Spertsyan is a classy playmaker, and he wants a move to Europe. Leeds need a no.10, and he fits the bill perfectly.
If Farke and Underwood pull this off, fans should get excited, this team is starting to take shape.
