Shock Twist: Leeds United Plot Move for Premier League & Champions League Winner

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United had a very poor end to the summer transfer window, but the club might still have a big chance in the free agent market.

After missing out on key targets, the Whites are now being linked with a move for former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is free and looking for a new club.

Leeds’ bad window and fan frustration

Leeds boss Daniel Farke wanted two more attackers before deadline day, but the club failed to bring them in.

The biggest blow was missing out on Fulham winger Harry Wilson, who was seen as the main target.

That left fans angry and frustrated, as many believe the team are short in the forward line.

The Whites were also linked with other players, but nothing worked out.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is heading to Qatar, while Josh Brownhill looks set for a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

Now, the only option left for Leeds is to look at free transfers, and that has brought Oxlade-Chamberlain’s name into the mix.

Oxlade-Chamberlain back on the market

The 31-year-old star ended his deal with Turkish side Besiktas last month after a tough spell there.

He only spent two years in Turkey, but things did not go well, and he is now keen to return to England.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is no ordinary free agent. He has won the Champions League and Premier League with Liverpool, and also played for Arsenal at the top level.

His experience and quality make him one of the most interesting names on the market.

Football reporter Pete O’Rourke has claimed that several clubs are on “high alert” after hearing about his availability.

Leeds United are one of the sides mentioned, with Birmingham City also keen.

What this could mean for Leeds

If Leeds manage to bring in Oxlade-Chamberlain, it would be a huge boost for Farke’s squad.

The team are lacking goals and creativity, and a player with his CV could give them a new dimension.

At the same time, there are questions about his fitness, as injuries have troubled him throughout his career.

But on a free deal, the risk might be worth it, especially when Leeds need some big names to lift the mood around the club.

Fans are desperate for good news after a tough summer window, and a signing like this would certainly get Elland Road excited.

The next few days could be massive as the race to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain heats up.
