Premier League Rivals On Alert As Leeds United “Send Shockwaves” After TalkSPORT Warning

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United have surprised many this season. The Yorkshire club have started the campaign in strong fashion and are already putting pressure on some of the big names in the Premier League.

For once, it is not the promoted teams who are fighting at the bottom, it is the so-called established sides who are feeling the heat.

Promoted Teams Breaking The Mould

In recent years, teams that come up from the Championship have usually struggled badly.

Most of the time, they have ended up close to relegation while other Premier League clubs stayed safe without much worry.

This year, things feel very different. Leeds, Sunderland and even Burnley have shown they can compete with anyone.

Leeds in particular have played with real strength and physicality, making life hard for every opponent.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola even admitted after his side’s 2-2 draw at Elland Road that Leeds were stronger and played at a higher level than his own team. That is a big compliment for a newly promoted side.

Leeds Ahead Of The Big Boys

After six games, Leeds already sit above the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham in the table. They have collected eight points and look confident.

TalkSPORT pundit Alex Crook said on radio that Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley are giving the old Premier League sides big problems this season.

He explained that the promoted teams are not pushovers anymore, and that is creating extra pressure for the clubs who have started badly.

Jamie Carragher also mentioned the same point, warning that top-flight sides who expected an easy season could now be dragged into a relegation battle because the new boys are performing well.

Big Fixtures Coming For Leeds

Leeds’ solid start could get even better in the coming weeks. They face Tottenham at Elland Road before the international break. Spurs have been inconsistent, so Leeds will fancy their chances.

After the break, Leeds travel to Burnley in what should be a fierce battle between two promoted sides. Then comes a big home game against struggling West Ham.

If Daniel Farke’s men can take points from these matches, they will put even more pressure on the teams around them.
