Ever since Leeds United missed out on Harry Wilson in the summer, the club’s lack of chance creations have been visible on the pitch with no distinct Premier League proven attacking midfielder available.
It is only in recent games that fortunes seem to have changed for the better. 4 points from the last 3 games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have given fans optimism heading into 2026 and fears over relegation.
Strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have finally started firing goals in. The last time that United’s scoresheet did not have either of the striker’s names on it was the 3-0 loss against Brighton on November 1.
Speculation over manager Daniel Farke’s future have cooled for the time-being, with a host of names being linked to the head position. The judgement on Farke is on a game-by-game basis currently, so the next 3 games against Brentford, Crystal Palace and Sunderland could easily undo all the goodwill built in the last few games.

Leeds Interested In Como Star
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the West Yorkshire club have been in touch with Como, who are managed by Cesc Fabregas in recent days to enquire about the Croatian playmaker.
On his YouTube channel, Romano said:
“In the last few days, Leeds has been in touch, the teams are starting to move. Leeds has proposed opening talks with Como and the player’s agents about a possible transfer, even a permanent one. Leeds would have practically repaid Baturina to Como.”
“The response I understand from both Como and the player was ‘no, thanks’. Baturina wants to stay at Como, he believes in the project Como is happy with Baturina, with how he trains, the potential he has.”
Should Baturina Remain Patient?
The Croatian has barely featured for Como, starting just 1 Serie A game all season. His pathway into the team has been blocked by the impressive Nico Paz, who regularly starts in the attacking midfield formation for Fabregas’ side.
Romano further added: “Baturina continues to work hard, but the door has been closed for Leeds. In short, it also marks some clarity regarding the rumours that have been circulating about the future of the Croatian midfielder.”
Baturina’s teammate Paz has attracted interest from Europe’s elite clubs, so it is likely that he leaves – with Real Madrid interested in making a move in the summer. Baturina may opt to remain patient for gametime until 2026/27, but risks not being part of Croatia’s World Cup squad if his playing time remains minimal.
For now, the door to a Premier League move is closed but Leeds fans should keep a close eye on this transfer saga as it may well extend into next year if the situation remains and the player grows impatient about his opportunities in Italy.
