Huge Boost for Leeds United: West Ham Enter Last Match Before AFCON Exodus

by Alex Matthews

West Ham United are heading into a very tough spell, and the feeling inside the club is not great right now.

The west ham news today is all about the Africa Cup of Nations, and sadly, it brings more trouble than good. While AFCON is a proud moment for the players involved, it comes at the worst time for the Hammers.

And this could also give a small boost to Leeds United, who are not losing any major Leeds United players to the tournament.

Two Big West Ham Full-Backs Missing for AFCON

The biggest worry in the west ham united news right now is the loss of two important west ham football players.

Both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Malick Diouf will leave for the AFCON match period, and this could create real problems.

Wan-Bissaka, who is playing for DR Congo, has slowly returned to his top form. Last year he was one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

Many fans even joked and called him “Obi-Wan Bissaka” because he defended like a Jedi. Losing him for up to five weeks is a huge blow.

Diouf, who plays for Senegal, is also out for the same period. He is still young and learning, but he brings strong attacking runs from full-back.

He just had one of his best games of the season. Having both players missing at the same time makes things even worse.

Kyle Walker-Peters will now have to cover both full-back roles, which is far from ideal.

And if one more defender gets injured, West Ham will have to use a centre-back in a position he is not comfortable with.

There is also Ollie Scarles, but he is not fully match-fit yet. It leaves the squad thin and nervous.

West Ham Rivals Also Suffer, Except Leeds United

In some small way, West Ham can take comfort from the fact that other relegation rivals are also losing players.

Wolves, Burnley, Fulham and Nottingham Forest all have AFCON absentees too.

Wolves look in serious danger after their recent defeat, and Burnley and Forest already have their problems.

Fulham have a bit of a cushion in the table, but they will miss two important players, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, both playing for Nigeria. So the whole league is facing problems, not just the Hammers.

But one team that does not have this issue is Leeds United. The leeds united latest news confirms that no big stars from the squad will be travelling to AFCON.

That gives Leeds a massive advantage in the coming games. While West Ham are scrambling to fill their defence, Leeds will have their regular lineup ready and fresh.

The leeds united news today is all positive, and many fans believe this is the perfect chance to climb the table.

Villa Game Is the Last Chance Before the Storm

The final match before the AFCON departures is against Aston Villa. West Ham will want to push hard in this game because things will get tougher right after.

Manager Nuno Espírito Santo has a big job coming. He must figure out how to keep the team stable, organised, and confident without two of his key defenders.

The west ham latest news shows a team trying its best to stay calm, but deep down, everyone knows the coming weeks will define the season.
