Crystal Palace Skipper Sends Subtle Message About Leeds After Heavy Elland Road Loss

by Alex Matthews

Leeds United are starting to look like a team reborn. After a difficult spell earlier in the season, the Whites have now gone on a strong unbeaten run, and confidence is clearly back inside Elland Road.

The latest win against Crystal Palace showed just how far Leeds have come in a short space of time.

Only a few weeks ago, Leeds were stuck in a worrying run of form, losing game after game and slipping closer to danger.

Pressure was growing on the manager and the players looked short of belief. But since then, something has changed.

Under Daniel Farke, Leeds have found their fight again. The crowd at Elland Road has played a big role too, pushing the team forward when it matters most.

Big Results Have Lifted Leeds Confidence

The recent results speak for themselves. Leeds produced a huge home win against Chelsea before showing real character by coming back from two goals down to draw with Liverpool.

Away from home, they finally picked up a point again, something they had not managed since beating Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the season.

All of that set the tone for Crystal Palace’s visit. Palace, managed by Oliver Glasner, knew it would be a tough afternoon. And Leeds made sure it was exactly that.

A dominant display saw Leeds run out 4-1 winners. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored twice, while Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach also found the net.

The win moved Leeds six points clear of the relegation zone and gave fans real hope going into the middle part of the season.

Palace Captain’s Comments Raise Eyebrows

After the match, attention turned to comments made by Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Speaking after the defeat, Guehi suggested that Palace were already looking ahead to their next game against Arsenal, who he claimed were stronger than Leeds at set pieces.

While he may not have meant it as a direct dig, many Leeds fans took it that way.

This was because all four of Leeds’ goals came from set-piece situations. Corners, second balls and loose defending from Palace were punished again and again.

From a Leeds point of view, the comments only added fuel to the fire.

The Whites had clearly exposed a weakness in Palace’s defence, and the scoreline backed that up.

Leeds Are Becoming Set-Piece Kings

One thing that cannot be ignored is Leeds United’s strength in dead-ball situations.

Last season, they were among the best teams in the Championship for set-piece goals. This season, that trend has continued in the Premier League.

According to data from WhoScored, Leeds are currently the top team in the league for goals scored from set pieces.

They sit ahead of big clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

The arrivals of players like Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach have made a huge difference.

Both are excellent at delivering corners and free kicks, giving Leeds a real edge in tight games.

This is not luck. It is planning, training, and smart recruitment paying off.

Momentum Is With Leeds Now

Leeds United are not safe yet, but momentum is clearly on their side. The team looks organised, confident, and dangerous, especially when the ball is dead.

Elland Road is loud again, the players are responding, and results are finally following.

As for comments from rival players, Leeds fans will take them as a sign of respect more than anything else.

If other teams are talking about Leeds’ strengths, it means the Whites are doing something right.

With confidence growing and belief returning, Leeds now look ready to fight for every point.

If they keep using their set-piece power and home support, survival is firmly within reach.
